If you’re someone that enjoys a good platform game, be sure to check out Baby Jo!
In this Platform Game you play Baby Jo, a small baby that’s lost in the woods and trying to make his way back home. Getting there is where the real challenge lies, in this Baby Jo need to get through four levels while avoiding the bad-tempered animals and machines on the way.
Classic to Platform Games, there’s thing you can do to dodge or kill your enemies. The main thing is that Baby Jo can pick up rattles which can be tossed at enemies (such as bees or spiders). There are additional challenges to getting ‘back home’ besides all the enemies you’ll be facing throughout the levels. You’ll need to place close attention to the baby’s dropping health (e.g. when touching enemies or hitting fire) which you can tell by the his big face that will become more and more tearful until you essential ‘lose a life’.
As with all babies, you’ll be faced with another challenge in that Baby Jo’s diaper gets wetter over time (just like any other baby!) so you’ll have to find new diaper along the way to keep going while his thirst increases too (so find him his bottle). Collecting fresh bottles and diapers is as important as getting through the stages and dodging enemies.
What I particularly like in this game is the graphical style, it’s quite cartoony and humoristic with small references to cartoons (like Daffy Duck). The sounds are quirky and add to the game. The controls are a bit slow at times and I’d wish the baby would walk a bit faster as the general pace can be somewhat slow. Overall an entertaining platformer that’s worth having a play through.
