One of my favorite classics from 1983, we check out Digger!
What’s not to love about digger? It’s a great classic that was looked for by Dimdimdov on our Game Digging section, where we help people find games they remember playing but don’t quite remember what it was called.
Digger revolves around a little digging machine that needs to get through level by digging up all the diamonds (Emeralds) in the level. There’s extra points you can gain by dropping bags of gold, that you can additionally use to take out the monsters. This directly leads me to the challenge of each level, the monsters chasing you!
The initial monsters are called Nobbin’s, while the faster ones are called Hobbin’s. The Nobbin are about the same speed as you are and can’t eat through the dirt, the Hobbin’s however are much faster and can eat bags of gold and dirt. Once they chase you, you’d better hurry up!
Every level you pass (once you collect all the Emeralds) becomes a bit more difficult, with more Emeralds to collect and more and faster monsters chasing you! As you progress you can also get a weapon to shoot at the monsters, it however takes quite a while to recharge it so you’ll have to play tactical and try and drop those bags of gold on those monsters.
Once you kill a monster, a new one will appear, up to the maximum number of monsters per level. If you then kill another monster, a cherry will appear in it’s play (at the start). Take this cherry and for a limited time you can eat the monsters (again, this seems familiar…. I’m looking at you Pac-Man!).
Digger is definitively a treasured game! If you’d also like to play it, you can download a remastered version of Digger, or play it Digger below (desktop only).
As always, keep playing and subscribe to Game Diggers for more treasured game!
